We are proud to announce that our Engineering teacher, Mr. Plevin is officially the ONLY certified Autodesk Instructor working in a school in the North West (and to our knowledge, the UK).

This incredible achievement means our students now learn directly from a certified industry expert right here in the classroom. With access to Autodesk Fusion, they are gaining real-world skills that set them apart in Engineering, CAD design and Manufacturing.

This isn’t just teaching... it is industry-standard education. Read more about this here.

Health Students' Trip to Edge Hill

This week, Year 12 health students visited Edge Hill University for a day of activities. Students started with a session on being healthy, which included nutrition, the links between physical activity and feeling better, and a session on ‘wellbeing’, mental health and self-care. After lunch, students were given a tour of the impressive university site and the health science facilities, which included mock-up hospital wards, operations rooms, and elderly accommodation. In the afternoon, the students learnt about limiting screen time and the benefits of sleep, in supporting focus, concentration and positive thinking. It was an insightful day for our students.

A Guide to the 2026 Changes to the UCAS Personal Statement

The UCAS personal statement for admission to UK universities will be in a different format for autumn 2026 admissions.

What are the changes, and what will they mean for students?

{item_alt_tag}

Instead of a free-text box allowing students to write a maximum of 4,000 characters, the statement will be divided into three sections, each requiring students to respond to a prompt question.

The new questions

The three questions students will now answer are:

  1. Why do you want to cover this course or subject?
  2. How have your qualifications or studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?
  3. What else have you done to prepare outside of education, and why are these experiences useful?
