From exploring Liverpool on a geography field trip to experimenting with photography, life drawing, graphics and animation, our students have been busy learning, creating, and discovering. Science detectives cracked “crime scenes,” engineers built electric circuits, and artists played with light and shadow, all while curiosity and creativity soared. Plus, don’t miss the chance to join the Arabic Voice of the Youth project and connect with peers around the world!

Year 10 Photography

This week, Year 10 pupils practised not only using our DSLR cameras, but how to adjust the Aperture setting, in order to achieve different levels of blur and focus.

They also had access to our backdrops and brand-new studio lights to experiment with the positioning of shadows.

Life Drawing

This week, students participated in life drawing. Life drawing isn’t just about technique, it’s a chance to experiment with style, convey emotion, and tell a story through human form. Over time, it also helps build confidence in drawing from imagination.

Geography Trip

Last week, Year 11 Geography students took part in a fieldwork afternoon in Liverpool city centre and the Albert Dock. This compulsory trip supported their GCSE course, as students collected important geographical data.

The British weather was very kind to us, and spirits were high as the group explored urban environments on foot and asked questions to get information from visitors to the dock. We were all very pleased when one of the local visitors we interviewed had written to Jill complementing us on how polite and enthusiastic we were. Everyone returned safely by 4pm, having gained valuable experience in real-world geographical investigation.

  • Fingerprint Investigations
  • Shoeprint Science
  • Inkless system
  • Solving the Mystery

Their teamwork, problem-solving, and enthusiasm were fantastic. It was a joy to see them so engaged in science and discovery.

Join the Arabic Voice of the Youth: A Global, Youth-Led Language & Culture Project

We’re reaching out to invite you to be part of something powerful, meaningful, and youth-led, the Arabic Voice of the Youth, a collaborative project created by young people, for young people.

Organised by the Liverpool Arabic Teachers’ Council, this inspiring initiative was brought to life by Nour, a Year 12 student from Liverpool Life Sciences UTC (UK), and Ariadna, a Year 13 student from IES Barrio Loranca (Madrid, Spain). Together, they launched a project that aims to promote Arabic language learning and foster cross-cultural understanding between young people from different countries and backgrounds.

Here’s how it works:

  • You’ll receive a short 1-minute video lesson, where Arabic is taught from scratch; simple, accessible, and designed for beginners.
  • You’ll then record a short video reply, showing what you’ve learnt and sharing your experience. Don’t worry — it’s all about learning, not perfection!

How long do I need to dedicate to the learning?

  • Flexibility is key! You can spend as little as 5 minutes daily or weekly, or as long as you wish. The important thing is little but often, consistency over perfection.

It’s a simple but powerful way to engage with a new language, express yourself, and be part of a growing network of youth from around the world working together to build bridges between cultures.

Whether you love languages, want to explore Arabic culture, or just feel curious, this is your chance to be part of something meaningful. Join in, connect, and help build a more understanding and united world.

Interested?

STEP 1 : Fill the following consent form.

STEP 2: Presentation Video

STEP 3: Lesson 1

Let your voice be heard, help us build bridges through language and culture.

Warm regards,

Sara Mallo

On behalf of the Arabic Voice of the Youth Team

Liverpool Arabic Council

Sickness procedure

From a safeguarding perspective, students who indicate they are feeling unwell will not be sent out of class as an unwell/injured student unaided may faint on the stairs or corridor. Staff will call first aid and first aid will go to the student. Students should not contact home themselves when they are unwell; staff will call parents if needed.
