After graduating this year, many of our Year 13 students are ready to fast-track their careers and make an impact from day one, through higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.

As part of our CUC6 Careers Programme, sixth form students have been taking part in work experience placements in-person, designed to build practical skills and provide valuable insight into future career pathways.

We also recently welcomed Digital Leaders from Thomas Gray Primary School, where Year 12 T-Level students led engaging sessions in coding, drones, and discussions on AI ethics.

Future Technologists: T Level Students Digital Workshop

We welcomed the Digital Leaders from our Trust primary school, Thomas Gray, for an exciting visit to our school. Our Year 12 T-Level students did a fantastic job of leading and supporting the session, helping the pupils explore computer programming and drone technology in a fun, engaging way.

There were also some brilliant discussions around the ethical issues linked to AI, giving everyone the chance to think deeply about the future of technology.

We asked our visiting students about their experience. They shared, “I enjoyed the trip because it was fun and we got to play with the drones. Our favourite part was coding the drones, learning what Python is and how to fly drones.” They also expressed that they wished they could have stayed for longer.

When asked if they would like to visit again in the future, they said: “Yes, I would like to learn how to code games, how to control a drone rather than just code one, learn how microchips work, and also how to make games.”

It was a wonderful experience, full of enthusiasm, curiosity and collaboration, and a great time was had by all. We can’t wait to welcome them back again soon.

Sickness procedure

From a safeguarding perspective, students who indicate they are feeling unwell will not be sent out of class as an unwell/injured student unaided may faint on the stairs or corridor. Staff will call first aid and first aid will go to the student. Students should not contact home themselves when they are unwell; staff will call parents if needed.

Personal Electronic Devices Policy Reminder

All personal electronic devices, including mobile phones, are not permitted to be used during the school day. We expect all devices to be switched off and kept out of sight during lessons unless the pupil is using the device as part of a lesson with the permission of their class teacher.

Mobile phones will be confiscated if they are seen, heard or used during the school day unless a pupil has been given permission. The headteacher will determine the length of time they deem proportionate for confiscation.
