At Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, we believe that learning doesn’t stop when the lesson ends. Our new enrichment sessions, running every Monday, give students from all year groups the chance to explore something completely new, develop new skills, and discover fresh passions beyond the classroom.

This term, students have chosen from a huge range of activities; from boxing and football to podcasting, music production, jewellery making, drama and chess, to name a few. Each session has been designed to help students step out of their comfort zone, try something different, and build confidence in a fun, supportive environment.

Partnering with the Best

We’re incredibly proud to be working with some amazing partners to make these experiences possible:

Boxing with No Limits – Students are learning about discipline, focus and fitness while having fun and getting active.

LFC Foundation – Combining football with mental health awareness, these sessions help build teamwork and resilience both on and off the pitch.

Drama Workshops with MYA SPACE – Students are building confidence, creativity, and communication skills through drama and performance.

Podcasting with the University of Liverpool Young Entrepreneurs Club – Aspiring podcasters are learning how to plan, record, and edit their own shows, developing valuable media and storytelling skills.

Rowing Club with NST Rowing Society – A fantastic way to try something completely different, develop strength and teamwork, and enjoy being part of a sporting community.

CCF Cadets – Building leadership, responsibility, and teamwork through challenging and rewarding cadet activities.

More Ways to Learn

In addition to our partner-led activities, students can also get creative with School of Rock in music production, computer-aided design projects in engineering and computer science, or relax with mindful colouring, board games, and reading sessions.

Some students are using this time to work on their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), while others are helping to create content for the school's social media team, showcasing their digital and creative skills.

Project Based Learning

Some students have started an IRIS Research Project involving live tracking protected elephants in Zambia. Students will research and identify behaviour patterns in their movements.

Our scholars are observing different samples under microscopes and drawing conclusions from the data.

Year 13 Leadership

Our Year 13 students are playing a big role too; taking on leadership and mentoring responsibilities by helping to supervise sessions and support younger students. It’s a brilliant opportunity for them to develop real-world leadership experience and give back to the school community.

Unique Opportunities for Every Student

At Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, we’re proud to offer such a wide and exciting mix of enrichment opportunities. Every student from Ignite (Year 9) to Year 13 will get the chance to take part, ensuring everyone benefits from trying something new, building new skills, and discovering what they love.
