At the CUC6, the sixth form shared by Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and The Studio School, our student leadership team plays a vital role in shaping the culture, opportunities and ambitions of the sixth form community.
We recently caught up with some of the team to learn more about their aspirations, work experience opportunities and what inspired them to take on these leadership roles.

Ridwaan
Ridwaan has ambitious plans for a future in medicine, with aspirations of becoming a heart surgeon. His passion for science has already led him to exciting opportunities, including an upcoming week-long placement with AstraZeneca and involvement in a peptide-making competition through a recent visit to Bachem.
By joining the student leadership team, Ridwaan wanted to further develop his public speaking skills and build confidence in professional environments.
Outside of sixth form, he enjoys playing basketball and is always looking for new challenges.

Ade
As Head Boy, Ade is passionate about making a positive impact both within school and beyond. His long-term ambition is to work in orthopaedic medicine, specialising in bones and musculoskeletal health, whilst also exploring ways to improve the balance between public and private healthcare to help relieve pressures on the NHS.
Ade has secured a week-long placement with AstraZeneca alongside work experience at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, giving him valuable insight into the medical profession.
He is currently completing an EPQ based around a fictional investigation into gene editing. Outside of academics, Ade also has an impressive hidden talent... he can beatbox!

Michael
Michael is passionate about psychology, with a particular interest in mental health support and emergency care. He hopes to one day create a specialist mental health transfer service designed to support patients travelling to and from hospitals.
Michael currently completes work experience placements through university partnerships, visiting different hospitals each week and learning from healthcare professionals across a range of settings. He is heavily involved in the BRI, helping support primary outreach work.
As part of his EPQ, Michael is designing lessons for primary school students to provide mental health awareness. He joined the team to improve his communication skills.

Tilly
Tilly hopes to pursue a career in medicine and aspires to become a cardiothoracic surgeon in the future. She is already taking important steps towards that goal through a placement at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Tilly is hoping to build leadership skills during her time at the CUC6.
Alongside her medical ambitions, Tilly is currently completing an EPQ focused on podcasting, combining creativity with communication and research skills.
Outside of sixth form, Tilly enjoys figure skating and trains every Sunday.
Looking Ahead
The students are all excited for what the future holds at CUC6, particularly the continued development of the BRI Journal, upcoming work experience opportunities and welcoming a new cohort of Year 12 students in September.
Their ambitions, enthusiasm and willingness to lead by example are helping shape an inspiring environment for the entire sixth form community, and we look forward to seeing all they achieve in the years ahead.
