Connie, one of our Year 13 students, recently delivered an exceptional live demonstration at Liverpool John Moores University as part of the Innovation and Disruptive Technologies for Future Engineering and Technology event.
The event brought together industry professionals, academics, researchers and students to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence and other disruptive technologies in shaping the future of engineering and society, through expert talks, panel discussions and live demonstrations.
A Standout Live Demo

Connie demonstrated generative design technology using Autodesk Fusion 360, how CAD modelling can optimise engineering designs to create components that are both stronger and more material efficient.
Connie presented her own phone stand design, explaining both the design process and the underlying technology.
Notably, a number of professionals in the room, including university lecturers, commented that while they had seen generative design outcomes before, they did not know how to use the software themselves.

Her contribution was widely recognised as one of the highlights of the day.
“What a showcase of talents. Connie proved to be the star of the live demo session. The participants thought hers was one of the best presentations of the day. Great to see that Liverpool Life Sciences UTC students are gaining the necessary life skills in addition to the technological skills.”
Dr Princy Johnson - Reader in Sensors and Data at Liverpool John Moores University
“I believe the entire audience was blown away by the presentation. I was incredibly impressed with the trust placed in Connie to deliver the presentation, and also incredibly impressed with her delivery. What an incredible experience for her, which I firmly believe will enable her to succeed and lead in future.”
Alex J Lennon - Dynamic Devices

This is not the first time Connie has demonstrated excellence on a national stage. In 2022, she won the UK Young Scientist of the Year Award for her project work on Adaptive Variation across avian species.
We are incredibly proud of Connie’s achievements and we look forward to seeing her continue to thrive as she progresses into the next stage of her education and career.
Liverpool Life Sciences UTC is one of the only schools in the UK with Autodesk certified teachers, enabling students to develop advanced, industry standard skills using professional software.
