This summer, we’re celebrating another strong set of results, with an 85% pass rate for our Level 2 Engineering students and a third of students gaining a Distinction. 

100% of our Biology and Physics students passed, and 97% of Chemistry students passed at grade 4+. Over half (52%) of UTC students achieved 7+ in all three separate sciences.

Principal Jill Davies points out the significance of science results in the future world of work: “We are a UTC that specialises in sciences, so a 100% pass rate in Biology and Physics and a 97% pass rate in Chemistry is phenomenal,” she says. “We want our students to do really well in sciences. The country is crying out for leading scientists and we're overjoyed that they're realising their potential at our school.”
75% of English students secured grades between 9 and 4, alongside 67% of Maths students. Over half (54%) also received a 7+ in Further Maths.

Student successes

Alicia was awarded two 9s in Biology and Physics, alongside four 8s and two 7s; Khanyi is celebrating three 9s, four 8s and two 7s; Abu was awarded an amazing six 9s, two 8s and a Distinction*, while Deva was also delighted with five 9s and a Distinction.

Eugene secured 9s in five of his subjects, 8s in three more, alongside a Distinction*. “The UTC has been different to the other schools I’ve been to,” he says. “It’s been really great, I really enjoyed my time here.”

Imran was awarded an 8 or a 9 in every subject he studied, and has accepted an offer from our sister school, The Studio, to study at sixth form. “I couldn't have done it without the help and support from my friends and teachers here,” he said.

Isabella was awarded a seven or higher in all of her GCSEs. She’s accepted an offer to stay for Sixth Form and says: “I don’t think I would have got the grades I did without the support I got at UTC.”

“I really like UTC. There are more career pathways and it offers a great chance to get some real-world experience,” said Harjith, while his twin brother Harish said: “I like the teachers here. They’re so kind and have helped me so much.” Both are returning to Sixth Form here to study Engineering.

Principal Jill Davies says: “Students coming back to study here in September have so many opportunities waiting for them. Not only are they going to meet new people and make new friends, but they’ll also have these amazing experiences. The journey from GCSE to Level 3 qualifications is the most exciting part of the educational landscape, and doing it here is not just about passing a course, it's about all of the extras that are included in that – visits to universities, our employer relationships and our work placements, as well as the brilliant relationships you have with teachers. I’m really excited about those young people who're coming back to spend another couple of years with us.”
